Day 1: From Thessaloniki to Meteora—The Land of Suspended Reality

Forget flat terrain, the UNESCO World Heritage site Meteora is all about dramatic, sky-high rock formations with 14th-century monasteries perched so precariously atop them that you’ll wonder if they were dropped there by a divine hand.

The word "Meteora" means “suspended in space,” and one look at these majestic monoliths and you'll feel like you're stepping into an episode of Game of Thrones.

After a scenic drive and coffee pitstop you’ll arrive at the Venetikos River, a spot so serene it practically begs for Instagram shots. Then it’s on to the real stars of the show: the monasteries. We’ll visit the Monastery of Agios Stefanos and several viewpoints where you can gape at these jaw-dropping structures.
